Bayern Munich have confirmed they will not sign Nicolas Jackson permanently at the end of the season.
The Senegalese striker will return to Chelsea at the end of the campaign after a season-long loan at the Allianz Arena.
Although the 24-year-old has netted double figures for Bayern, he has failed to establish himself as anything more than a back-up to Harry Kane.
Following Eberl's announcement, Chelsea's sporting department must work out what they want to do with the former Villarreal man ahead of his return to London.
Max Eberl confirms Bayern Munich won't sign Nicolas Jackson
Bayern have the option to sign Jackson for £56 million, but they appear to have no desire to trigger the clause.
Speaking to Sky Sports Germany, as quoted by the Standard, about what the club plan to do with the African, Eberl is certain he'll be heading back to London.
"We will not trigger the option for Nicolas Jackson."
Jackson hasn't had a bad season at all, but his game time has been limited. However, with Vincent Kompany blessed with the sensational Kane, it's understandable why Jackson has started just 10 Bundesliga matches.
The Chelsea loanee has retained his value well, though, and with seven years still left on his contract, the Blues will feel in control of his situation.

In fact, considering how poor Liam Delap has been in his first season, it wouldn't be surprising to see Jackson reintegrated into the first team and asked to play an important role next season.
More bad news for Liam Delap
Delap has been one of the club's worst ever signings. He joined from Ipswich Town last year for around £30 million and was expected to become England's next big striker. Things couldn't have gone any worse for the 23-year-old, though.
Not only has he suffered injuries and has failed to find any sort of good form, he has just one Premier League goal to his name all season.
A total and utter disaster signing made worse by the Blues' decision to ship Jackson off to Germany. Enzo Maresca and then Liam Rosenior only had Joao Pedro to call upon in front of goal and that simply has not been enough; proven by the side's lack of cutting edge in the final third.
Delap has emerged as a target for some lower placed teams, including Newcastle United, but it remains to be seen just how interested in the struggling 23-year-old the Magpies are.
