Chelsea have said goodbye to a lot of big-name players this summer. Players like Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, Joao Felix and several others have headed for the Stamford Bridge exit door. But despite the summer transfer window closing in England, there are some who continue to be linked with a move away. One of them is Andrey Santos.
In fact, when it comes to Santos, these are just not links. A significant offer seems to have been made to both Chelsea and the player himself.
We have already covered the €70 million offer that Chelsea had received for Santos this summer. But it looks like the player has been offered a lucrative salary package as well. One that is five times more than what he receives at Stamford Bridge right now. The Brazilian has already turned it down.
As reported by UOL, Santos refused the base salary of €8 million per year. The Brazilian would only agree to negotiate a move to Saudi Arabia for double the salary offered.
Andrey Santos ready to leave Chelsea for Saudi club on one condition
Santos is a key part of this Chelsea midfield though. Especially as Romeo Lavia continues to deal with injury problems and has even been linked with a move to Manchester United recently, one that the Blues might have to consider if his fitness issues continue for the third consecutive season.
So, hopefully, Chelsea will not consider parting ways with Santos. That being said, some offers are too good to turn down. And that €70 million figure might seem tempting for someone who is not even a starter.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Santos. For now, he is a Chelsea player and one will hope that that remains the case for years to come if his development goes according to expectations.
