Armando Broja came through the youth ranks at Chelsea and was expected to be a key part of the first-team for years to come. He had a pretty good scoring record for the academy teams and had all the physical attributes required to be a success in the Premier League. But unfortunately, it has not turned as expected for the Albanian international.
In 38 senior appearances for Chelsea, he has only scored three times, never even getting close to being the starter. But even more worrying have been the loan spells.
Broja initially had positive loan stints at Vitesse and Southampton. But at Everton and Fulham, the two most recent ones, he never found the back of the net.
As a result, it was very clear that he did not have a future at Chelsea. And when news broke that he was set to join Burnley, fans were not particularly concerned. Yet now, it looks like that move could fetch the Blues a much higher transfer fee than first thought.
Armando Broja transfer fee could be much higher than Chelsea fans thought
For a striker who has not scored in his previous two loan spells, this looks set to be quite the lucrative transfer. As reported by BBC Sport, the move could be worth up to £20 million but the exact figure has not been confirmed.
Of course, that is a decent transfer fee for sure. And you never know, it is possible that Broja could get his career back on track, if he finds some stability at Burnley.
Just look at how a move to Nottingham Forest worked out for Callum Hudson-Odoi. There is no reason for Broja to not do the same. He has been around for a while but one should not forget that he is still just 23 years of age and has time on his side.
