Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku has been offered to Barcelona by his agent in the January transfer window.
When Chelsea signed Christopher Nkunku two summers ago, the expectation was that he would become the next best thing at Chelsea. However, he was signed during a time period where Chelsea signed every name under the sun so unfortunately, his arrival went under the radar.
Of course, injuries didn't help his case either, as Nkunku missed a large chunk of his introductory season, resulting in the need to play catch-up after his return.
Nowadays, Nkunku is not as important to Chelsea as he would like to have been at this stage. Therefore, the attacker is eager to secure a move away Stamford Bridge.
Barcelona offered the opportunity to secure a Chelsea transfer
According to a report from Spanish outlet Sport, Christopher Nkunku's agent Pini Zahavi has offered Nkunku to Barcelona, a club with great relations to the agent. Now, Barcelona are considering bringing him to the club.
The report states that Nkunku is eager to move away in the upcoming January transfer window due to not being a starter at Chelsea. While Barcelona are open to the idea, they would not be likely to pursue him next month due to problems involving his salary.
On this note, Nkunku is prepared to adjust his salary, if it means securing a move to Barcelona. So, the situation is still up in the air, but Nkunku is prepared to make the sacrifices, showing his desire to leave Chelsea.
Furthermore, an option which is discussed within the Spanish publication is for Barcelona to sign Christopher Nkunku on loan. This would benefit all parties, since it relieves Chelsea of a player who is not a starter, hands playing time to Nkunku while granting Barcelona with a risk-free contract of a great player.
Nkunku is clearly an excellent and dynamic attacker. The problem isn't that he's not good enough for Chelsea - He's come off the bench in most matches, after all - The problem is more that the players above him in the pecking order are too good to refuse for Enzo Maresca.
Since the January transfer window opens next week (I know, where has the time gone?), we will see how willing all parties are to push this deal over the line.
As it stands, no concrete moves or offers have been made. It is simply a case of Nkunku's agent making him available to Barcelona.
