Christopher Nkunku joined the Blues in the summer of 2023 after an impressive time with RB Leipzig. However, his move to the club has not gone as planned. The French international spent most of his debut season on the sidelines due to injury. In the 24/25 campaign, he has once again failed to establish himself for the Blues, mostly being used as a cup player.

As a result, the player is reportedly exploring potential exit routes this summer. Bayern Munich are believed to be interested in signing Nkunku and have already expressed their desire to bring him back to Germany.

However, Nkunku might not be the only Chelsea player moving to Munich. Recently, reports have emerged that another is on the Bundesliga winners’ radar, and the name might come as a surprise to many.

It is someone who remains in the first-team mix at Stamford Bridge. Simon Phillips has talked on Si Phillips Talks Chelsea (via The Chelsea Chronicle) about Bayern Munich sending an enquiry to the Blues about Malo Gusto.

Bayern Munich interested in signing Chelsea's Malo Gusto

Contrary to Nkunku, Gusto turned some heads with his solid performances last season. However, the same cannot be said about his recent campaign. He has struggled with form and failed to make much impact, having provided just two assists and no goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.

Such a dip in performance puts him in a tight spot as underperforming players are at risk with Chelsea looking to offload some squad members to make room for the arrival of a number of new signings. Could that cause Gusto's exit?

The departure of the right-back isn’t as far-fetched as previously thought. It just does not look like Maresca's tactics suit him. If Bayern Munich do come knocking with a suitable offer on the table, Chelsea might give the green light. Let's see what ends up happening.
