Napoli are confident about signing Alejandro Garnacho from Man United. However, Chelsea should be happy since his Stamford Bridge transfer would not be good.

Chelsea are always tipped to be active in the transfer window. Considering how quiet the Blues have been by their own standards, it seems like we are almost reaching boiling point. Indeed, in the final two weeks of the transfer window, expect the Chelsea transfer news to heat up.

One player who has been increasingly linked to Chelsea over the last few weeks is Alejandro Garnacho. When he was first linked, it was easy to brush away these rumours as sensationalist considering his Man United ties. However, the more time progresses, the more viable it seems.

Blues dodge bullet as Napoli want to sign woeful Chelsea transfer target

According to a report from TBR Football, Chelsea will face competition from Napoli if they wish to sign Alejandro Garnacho. What's more is that Napoli are confident they can land the Argentine.

As we all know, it is the former Chelsea boss (and Premier League winner, no less) Antonio Conte who currently leads Napoli. Now, the Italian could come back to haunt Chelsea by signing their transfer target.

Or... So some would think. In my opinion, Conte would actually be doing Chelsea a favour by stealing Garnacho from under their noses. After all, what would Garnacho bring to Chelsea which would warrant his price tag?

Look, I won't come here and deny that Garnacho has incredible potential. He has shown the potential he possesses already, so there's a gem to be unearthed.

However, it's important to note that while Garnacho has proven his potential, he is yet to prove his desire to reach that potential. So far, he has been hot and cold in the Premier League. With no real sign of consistency at United, how do we know he will make it at Stamford Bridge?

For this reason, Chelsea fans would be underwhelmed to sign Garnacho. Therefore, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if Conte does bring Garnacho to Italy.

And if he does, Garnacho will shine. I have no doubt about this. If that happens, though, we mustn't fall into the trap of viewing it as a wasted opportunity. After all, there are some players who are simply not Premier League quality.

Missing out on Garnacho would be a bullet dodged.
