Man United block Chelsea from signing their ambitious transfer target

Man United will not sell Marcus Rashford to a direct league rival, despite Chelsea's interest in a January transfer window loan.

Chelsea are yet to conduct any business in the January transfer window. This is due to Enzo Maresca needing to trim the squad he inherited before thinking about bringing any new players in.

It is certainly on Chelsea's agenda to sell players this month. In fact, they could make up to €100m in player sales this transfer window. While losing players isn't nice, this is the best case scenario for Chelsea.

Over the last few weeks, there have been whispers about Chelsea being interested in signing Marcus Rashford. The England international is out of favour at Man United under new manager Ruben Amorim, so the Blues have been linked to a loan move.

However, it might not be possible.

Man United block Chelsea from signing their ambitious transfer target

According to a report from the Daily Star, Manchester United are not interested in allowing Marcus Rashford to join a direct Premier League rival. This rules out any plans for Chelsea, Tottenham or West Ham to bring him on loan.

So, Marcus Rashford is left with his options limited now. Despite being desperate to leave Man United (and understandably so), the England international and original star-boy must consider his options in other countries.

The reason why Man United wish to block any direct Premier League rivals from signing Marcus Rashford is because Sir Jim Ratcliffe is aware of the need from his end to pay a chunk of his huge wages. Therefore, he does not want to do this while simultaneously hindering Man United from qualifying for Europe.

Nevertheless, Marcus Rashford does have options. He is linked to a Borussia Dortmund move, similar to that of Jadon Sancho previously. Failing this, there is interest in Rashford from Italy.

So, any Chelsea fan dreaming of seeing Rashford in the blue jersey, you have Sir Jim Ratcliffe to thank for this dream not coming true.
