Chelsea have been quite busy throughout this summer transfer window, having already signed several new players, including Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens. There could be more incomings, but the Blues are also looking to part ways with a quite a few in order to balance the books.
Djordje Petrovic seems to be one of them, as it was getting quite obvious that he would be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer after he was left out of the Club World Cup. However, he isn’t short of suitors and has attracted interest from a number of clubs, both in the Premier League and around Europe, with one of them now reportedly confident about getting the deal done.
Petrovic left MLS team New England Revolution to join Chelsea in August 2023 for around £14 million. The goalie made 31 appearances for Chelsea in his debut season, capitalising on Robert Sanchez's struggles. However, He was loaned to Strasbourg last summer despite his impressive play.
Petrovic helped Strasbourg finish seventh in Ligue 1. The Serbian international surprised a lot of people by becoming one of the French club's best players and ultimately winning their Player of the Season award. But despite his heroics at the Stade de la Meinau, he seems to have failed to convince Chelsea that he is the long-term number one and could be on his way out this summer.
Bournemouth submit bid for £25 million-rated Chelsea player
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, after sending an official bid on Wednesday, Bournemouth are confident of getting the Petrovic deal done. The player has already accepted to join the Cherries. The final green light from Chelsea is expected soon.
After losing out on last season's loan signing Kepa Arrizabalaga, who just sealed a move to Arsenal, Bournemouth are in need of a new goalkeeper. And they have looked towards Chelsea once again.
If the transfer is completed, Petrovic will become the Cherries' first-choice goalkeeper overnight. And having seen so many key players leave, Bouremouth do need to add some quality.
