After weeks of negotiations, Everton have finally agreed a deal to sign Tyrique George.

The 20-year-old has become the second player to leave Chelsea this summer after Marc Cucurella joined Real Madrid.

George spent the second half of last season on loan with the Toffees, and after impressing David Moyes, has now moved to the Hill Dickinson Stadium permanently.

Chelsea reach agreement with Everton for Tyrique George

Although George started just one Premier League game last season, Moyes spoke highly of him and insisted he'd get more chances.

"I like Tyrique. We’ll try to get him more opportunities and minutes when we can. He’s got good control, he wants to score," the 63-year-old said in April.

And the Scotsman has stayed true to his word with Everton agreeing a deal worth up to £24 million for the young forward.

According to BBC Sport, the Toffees will pay Chelsea £18 million upfront plus £6 million in add-ons based on appearances and possible European qualification.

Chelsea have also successfully negotiated a 15 per cent sell-on clause into the 20-year-old's deal meaning they could bank a decent sum further down the line.

Since he was promoted to the Blues' first team at the end of 2024, George, who has represented England at under-21 level, directly contributed to 12 goals in 37 matches in all competitions.

He leaves Stamford Bridge with two winners medals to his name, having lifted the 2024-25 UEFA Conference League and the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Xabi Alonso era underway

Xabi Alonso is now in charge and, after being named 'manager', will play a significant role in the Blues' recruitment.

Despite only taking charge last week, the Spaniard appears to be heavily involved in the Blues' transfer activity.

Clearly not opposed to letting fringe players move on, Alonso will feel George's move to Everton is a great piece of business, especially considering the forward was entering the final year of his contract.

And the Cobham academy graduate might not be the only attacker to leave this summer. At least one of Liam Delap, Marc Guiu and Nicolas Jackson are set to depart with Alejandro Garnacho also in the firing line despite only moving to west London one year ago.

With Chelsea under pressure to balance the books, as well as recently being handed a fine by UEFA worth £2.6 million for breaking squad rules, player sales have become equally as important as new additions.
