It looks like Chelsea are considering a blockbuster swap deal with Manchester United that could help both clubs.

Chelsea finished last season on a high note, securing fourth place in the Premier League and confirming their participation in next season's Champions League as well. They also won the UEFA Conference League, adding another European trophy to their cabinet and completing the set, becoming the first ever to do so in the process.

In contrast, their Premier League rivals Manchester United had a disappointing campaign, finishing 15th and losing the UEFA Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur. They have struggled since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement in 2013.

With the summer transfer window now open, both clubs are looking to strengthen their squads ahead of the next campaign. Although Chelsea have already brought in Liam Delap as their first signing before the Club World Cup, the club are still believed to be looking for a right-footed winger, a centre-back, and a versatile striker.

For the left winger role, Chelsea have been linked with Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho for quite some time now. The Blues even attempted to sign the youngster during the winter transfer window, but things have gone quiet recently, with Jamie Gittens emerging as a primary target. However, as negotiations with Borussia Dortmund drag on, other rumours are cropping up.

Chelsea consider swap deal for Manchester United’s Garnacho

According to the Telegraph, Chelsea and Manchester United are considering the possibility of trying to send Christopher Nkunku and Garnacho in opposite directions this summer. Both want to quit their respective clubs and a swap deal has not been ruled out

Nkunku now seems like a shadow of his former self, having failed to establish himself at Chelsea. The club are already said to be exploring potential suitors for the player with Bayern Munich also being linked with him.

On the other hand, Garnacho’s career has also taken a downturn this season under new Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim, who does not appear to have him in his plans. So, frankly speaking, both players could use a fresh start. There’s no doubt about the talent either of them possesses, and if a swap deal does materialise, it could prove beneficial for everyone involved.
