The winter transfer window is slowly approaching and with it, things are picking up pace in the Chelsea rumour mill. The Blues spent heavily on reinforcing multiple positions in the summer window and putting together a formidable squad to take the next step forward following their Club World Cup triumph.

However, frequent injuries to key players have limited Chelsea’s success this season so far, with the club struggling to maintain momentum. As a result, the Blues might revisit the market in the winter and bring in some fresh new faces to address the situation.

In fact, it looks like Chelsea have already set their eyes on a River Plate youngster as a possible winter signing, if reports are to be believed. The player in question is Ian Subiabre.

As relayed by El Intransigente (via Sport Witness), journalist a Castillo has explained how Chelsea could secure the signing of Subiabre. He stated:

"If they come in with a decent offer, say €10 or €15m for a percentage of his transfer rights, Subiabre will be sold immediately. Right now, there are zero offers, but when one comes in, he’s gone."

Chelsea can secure promising River Plate youngster for just €15 million fee

Subiabre is said to be unhappy at River Plate. Although the player reached an agreement over an extension not too long ago, his agents are pushing for an immediate exit.

Nevertheless, the 18-year-old has appeared in 18 matches this season while scoring two goals and providing one assist. The Argentine youth international can operate down both flanks and also in the centre-forward role, although his primary position is on the right.

Chelsea have two of the best in the Premier League there in Pedro Neto and Estevao, both of whom are performing incredibly well at the moment. So, the club will need to plan ahead on how they are going to fit Subiabre into the squad if they indeed pursue the youngster. Then again, with the growing number of injuries, a versatile player like Subiabre might come in handy for the club, especially for a fee of €15 million.
