It is pretty obvious that Chelsea will try to sign a striker this summer after Nicolas Jackson has failed to meet the club's expectations as the first-choice number 9 this season. There is still a lot to like about him, especially in the build-up phase, but the Senegal international's finishing has often let him down. The Blues need someone with a lot more composure and goalscoring instincts in the final third.
They have been linked with plenty of strikers in recent weeks. There have been suggestions that talks have even been held with Liam Delap's camp over a move.
Delap is not the only striker that Chelsea have their eyes on though. In fact, as reported by The Guardian, they will prioritise a move for RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko if they qualify for the Champions League.
Of course, Chelsea have a lot of work to do if they are to qualify for the Champions League. They must go away to Nottingham Forest this weekend and win. Not the easiest task by any stretch of the imagination.
Chelsea decide striker they want if they qualify for Champions League
While Sesko is not scoring at that sort of rate yet, he has earned comparisons with Erling Haaland. As we have all seen, that kind of profile works in the Premier League.
Sesko just seems to have an X-factor about him. He is the kind of striker who can score a variety of goals. He has scored 21 times in 45 appearances this season and at 21 years of age, there is plenty of room for growth.
That being said, Chelsea need to be certain that they have gotten the scouting right here. They cannot afford to go out and shell out a huge transfer fee to bring in a striker, only for him to struggle, like has been the case with Rasmus Hojlund, who had also drawn Erling Haaland comparisons, at Manchester United.
