In the past, we have seen that Manchester City are not against the idea of their players joining Premier League rivals. Chelsea have benefited from that a few times in the recent past. They signed Cole Palmer a couple of years back. Raheem Sterling also swapped sky blue for royal blue in 2022. Could the Stamford Bridge outfit look to repeat their trick a third time this summer?

It is believed that one of the priorities for Chelsea this summer will be signing a right-footed winger. They have a lot of left-footed players right now who can play on the wings.

Of course, the obvious examples are Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto. On top of that, Estevao and Kendry Paez will be joining in the summer. Geovany Quenda will do the same in the summer of 2026.

The right-footed options for Chelsea are Jadon Sancho, who might leave in the summer, Mykhailo Mudryk, whose future in football remains unclear, and Tyrique George, who is not ready to be a starter yet. So, there is definitely room for improvement there.

Chelsea eyeing blockbuster move for Manchester City player

It has emerged that Jeremy Doku of Manchester City is one of the players that the Blues have an eye on at the moment. As reported by Simon Phillips on his Substack (via Chelsea News):

"SPTC sources have learned this week that Chelsea are now considering Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku as one option for the left wing position this summer.

‘At the moment, we have heard that it is just interest and Doku is just one of many players that the club are looking at ahead of a potential move. But nothing has advanced on this yet and it’s just interest and internal discussions about it on our side."

Doku has not exactly been a regular starter for Manchester City. He made 16 starts in the Premier League this season. In the Champions League, he was left on the bench as an unused substitute in both legs against Real Madrid as Pep Guardiola's side were eliminated from the competition.

At Chelsea, Doku could be a regular starter. He has not been the most consistent performer for Manchester City but that does not mean that he does not have some exceptional qualities.

Of course, everybody talks about his pace. But Doku might be one of the best dribblers in the Premier League as well. He averages 6.4 successful dribbles per 90 and has a success rate of 64.1%. Second behind him on that list is Ethan Nwaneri with 3.7 per 90. Quite the gap.

Also Doku's output is not bad either. According to stats from Transfermarkt, in 4157 minutes for Manchester City, he has scored 12 goals and provided 20 assists.

For a club like Manchester City, Doku does not have a starring role. But at Chelsea, he might be one of the faces of the team. Will that be enough to tempt him to leave Guardiola's side and join Enzo Maresca's men?
