Just moments after officially unveiling Morgan Rogers as Britain’s most expensive-ever player, news broke that Chelsea have made a Bournemouth an opening offer for Alex Scott.
The Blues' opening offer was quickly rejected with the Cherries determined to keep hold of the 22-year-old despite him refusing to sign a new contract.

According to the NY Times, Tuesday evening saw Chelsea present Bournemouth with an opening offer worth ÂŁ64 million for Scott.
Although rejected, it is possible the Blues return with an improved offer as interest in the young midfielder from other Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, grows.
The Red Devils are in a similar position to the Blues. Despite Michael Carrick already signing Andrey Santos for ÂŁ50 million, the United boss needs more midfield reinforcements, and Scott is a name on their list.
However, with Chelsea being the first to put their money where their mouth is and put an offer on the table, it seems that at this stage, the Blues are the most serious when it comes to landing the England under-21 international.
Chelsea fans think Xabi Alonso will axe Enzo Fernandez
Following the news of Chelsea's offer, fans online quickly assumed it means Xabi Alonso may be preparing to axe a player.
Supporters on Reddit believe the Blues' pursuit of Scott is a big indictor that Enzo Fernandez's time at Stamford Bridge is set to come to an end.
"The way the club is moving right now sure seems like Enzo [Fernandez] is getting sold," one fan said.
Another added: "He gone."
"Before the [World Cup] final I wanted Enzo to stay, after the final I don’t really care. I just don’t want it to drag on," a third fan said.
A fourth supporter said: "Very curious about Enzo's future now." with another adding: "Hopefully this means Enzo is gone."
Fernandez had been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid for most of the year but the La Liga giants' public statement confirming they have no intention of trying to sign him has all but ended speculation.
The Blues' ÂŁ120 million valuation is another major hurdle for the midfielder simply because so few teams can afford to invest that much on one player.
Saudi Arabia could be an option for the Argentina international but it remains to be seen if he's willing to go to the Pro League at this stage of his career, despite how lucrative a transfer could be.
