Chelsea fans feared the worst over Joao Pedro's future at Stamford Bridge.

The Brazilian enjoyed an exceptional debut campaign in West London after joining from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer.

Pedro reached the 20-goal mark in all competitions and became only the third striker in Chelsea history to score 15 Premier League goals in his debut campaign after Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Diego Costa.

Clearly an incredible finisher of chances, the 24-year-old's six assists also displayed his creative genius, with only Pedro Neto (10) and Enzo Fernandez (seven) supplying more for the club during 2025/26.

In a season where the Blues struggled as a whole, Pedro was one of the few players who came away with any credit, and the striker has since attracted several admirers.

Joao Pedro 'untouchable' at Chelsea

Pedro's searing Chelsea form has caught Barcelona's eye ahead of the summer transfer window, as the Spanish giants search for Robert Lewandowski's long-term replacement.

Barca sporting director Deco is a huge admirer of Pedro, and the LaLiga champions were seen as an ideal destination to continue his skyrocketing development.

But in news that all Chelsea fans will welcome, the Blues consider their prized asset as "untouchable" and have "no intention" of discussing his future, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

BlueCo see Pedro as a "key part" of Xabi Alonso's project, and the Spaniard is surely excited to work with the Brazilian forward ahead of an exciting new era at Stamford Bridge.

BlueCo deserve credit in recent weeks

Chelsea's Premier League fizzled out with a 2-1 defeat to Sunderland on the final day, and it meant there will be no European football for the Blues in 2026/27.

Naturally, that is disappointing for everyone associated with the club, but supporters are now excited about the long-term project under Alonso and what he can achieve as a "manager" rather than their usual "head coach" tag.

The first aim for the 44-year-old will be to keep his best players on board and build his 3-4-2-1 system around them. Pedro, of course, is the man set to spearhead Chelsea's attack next season, and news of him being considered "untouchable" has to be applauded.

BlueCo arguably know that selling their best talent sets a bad precedent, and other clubs may sense that other players are available, such as Cole Palmer. But this isn't the case, and after landing their top managerial target, they can be praised for their stance on Pedro.
