Chelsea will face their biggest test of the season when they take on PSG in the final of the Club World Cup. Luis Enrique's side are in scary form. They won the Champions League final by a 5-0 scoreline against Inter Milan. Let that sink in for a second. In their last game, they made Real Madrid look like easy opposition, winning 4-0.
Chelsea have their work cut out for them. And if Enzo Maresca's side are to have any chance against PSG, they will need to have their best players available for the final and in top form.
There is some good news in that regard. There were concerns about Moises Caicedo's fitness heading into the game after he appeared to suffer an ankle injury late in the match against Fluminense and needed medical assistance.
The Ecuadorian international is known for his durability and toughness though. And we now have another example of that right in front of our eyes. As reported by Kieran Gill, Caicedo was involved in full training after coming through yesterday’s Chelsea session unscathed.
Chelsea handed massive boost for Club World Cup final vs PSG
It would be safe to say that Caicedo is one of Chelsea's most important players right now, if not at the very top of that list. Not many will argue with that statement.
He will be even more important in a game like the Club World Cup final, where a lot of the focus will be on keeping PSG at bay. Just think of the impact that N'Golo Kante had against Manchester City in the Champions League final in 2021. That is the sort of performance Caicedo will have to put in. Also, one cannot forget that Romeo Lavia is expected to miss the match.
The great news is that Caicedo seems to be fit heading into the game. Expect to see him in the starting XI on the big day.
