There is not much that remains to be said of Chelsea's injury problems. It is their biggest issue at the moment, and unfortunately, it seems to be only getting worse. Several other players have seemed to pick up issues. On top of that, it looks like one injury is much more serious than had been first thought.

Chelsea's win against Liverpool was a major boost for the Blues. It came at a cost as well. Benoit Badiashile and Josh Acheampong picked up injuries on the day.

Coming out of the game, it was suggested that those were not serious problems. Unfortunately, it looks like that was wide of the mark, at least in the case of Badiashile.

Acheampong returned quickly and even featured during the international break. But as for Badiashile, who was brilliant in that first half against Liverpool, he is set for another spell on the sidelines. As reported by The Standard, Enzo Maresca said:

"Unfortunately, Benoit will be out until December. A muscular problem. He was doing fantastically. We're going to wait for him."

For a little while, it had looked like Badiashile could be the answer to Chelsea's problems. He was incredible as long as he was on the pitch against Liverpool. But then, injury struck again.

That has been the biggest issue surrounding Badiashile. He simply cannot remain fit for any consistent length of time.

Wesley Fofana gets a lot of criticism for being injury-prone but Badiashile is not much better in that department either. Since arriving at Chelsea, he has never played more than 22 games in a season.

Overall, since joining the club in early 2023, he has played 4486 minutes of football in total. For comparison, Marc Cucurella played 4346 minutes just last season.

So, it is not hard to understand why fans might be unwilling to rely on Badiashile, despite his quality. A new centre-back needs to be signed in January, unless someone like Acheampong steps up to the plate and becomes a starter by then.
