Chelsea are currently sitting in fifth place in the Premier League table. Although this position ensures qualification for the Champions League next season, there is no guarantee that the Blues will finish there, with two must-win games left to be played, after they lost an important match against Newcastle United.

It has been another disappointing campaign by the Blues' standards. As a result, Chelsea are expected to bring in multiple reinforcements, especially at the forward positions.

Current striker Nicolas Jackson has struggled with consistency this season, showing only flashes of his potential. He seems to struggle to keep out of the ref's book as well and his untimely red card was instrumental in Chelsea's loss to Newcastle United.

All of this should prompt the club to search for a more reliable goalscorer to lead the attack next season. Could they have the answer closer to home than most believe?

Chelsea interested in Dutch striker already at Strasbourg

The Blues have already been linked with Liam Delap, Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko and several other strikers. While all these targets look good on paper, securing any of them will be incredibly difficult due to interest from other top clubs.

Therefore, Chelsea are also keeping tabs on alternative targets to avoid returning empty-handed like they did in the last two transfer windows. Now reports have suggested that the club is considering bringing in a promising forward from Ligue 1.

During a session of Ask Ornstein Q&A, The Athletic's David Ornstein noted that Emanuel Emegha has "definitely been a consideration for some time".

Emegha has scored 14 goals and provided three assists in just 29 appearances for Strasbourg this season. On top of these numbers, the Dutch striker is also gifted physically. Standing at 6’5”, He fits the bill for Chelsea, as he is known for his speed and clinical finishing abilities.

Chelsea also hold an advantage over any other club that want to sign Emegha. Strasbourg are part of the BlueCo group. So, negotiations between the two clubs should not prove to be tough.

Securing a dependable striker will be important for Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window. Unfortunately, Emegha would be another 'project' signing that might or might not work out.
