Just like that, deadline day is upon us. The summer transfer window seems to have flown by and unfortunately, Chelsea have left themselves a lot of work to do on the final day. They are believed to be interested in Fermin Lopez but so far, that seems not to have progressed much. Barcelona's stance seems to be that it depends on the Spaniard and so far, the midfielder has not made a push. IN fact, he even came off the bench in their game this weekend.
It remains to be seen if something unexpected happens on deadline day or not. Chelsea could have their eyes set on one of Liverpool's targets.
Liverpool have been the biggest spenders this summer and by some distance at that. They have already brought in the likes of Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz. And now, it looks like they are set to sign Alexander Isak in a £130 million deal.
Marc Guehi is also believed to be on their radar this summer. The transfer spending has been almost unfathomable but they have found a way to pull it off. So, it would be no surprise if the centre-back ends up at Anfield as well. Chelsea might have a thing or two to say about that though.
Chelsea interested in late move for England international
As reported by CaughtOffside, Chelsea have re-entered the race to sign Guehi and made an approach in recent days. They were looking to take advantage of the perceived delay in negotiations between Crystal Palace and Liverpool. A deal at this point looks complicated, but the Blues have made their intentions clear.
Guehi came through the youth ranks at Chelsea but could not make the grade at Stamford Bridge. He has proven himself at Crystal Palace though. And with the England national team as well.
Not only has he established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League but he has also captained Crystal Palace to their first ever major trophy. He will go down in club history, no matter what happens on deadline day.
