Moises Caicedo is arguably Chelsea's most important player right now. There is no question about his quality both on and off the ball, and there is a reason nobody talks about his price tag anymore. That is because he has proven himself as one of the best midfielders in the world already and is only expected to get better with time.

One of Caicedo's biggest traits is his durability. The Ecuadorian midfielder is rarely injured or even needs rest.

So, Chelsea fans were left worried when he missed Ecuador's most recent game. Naturally, they have been waiting for an update on his situation and it looks we finally have one. And plenty will be breathing a sigh of relief.

As reported by Maria Jose Flores, Caicedo was not considered for the starting role due to physical discomfort. He is expected to fully recover for the match against Argentina.

So, while it looks like Caicedo has been dealing with some discomfort, he should be fit in time to take on Lionel Messi's Argentina. That is positive news. that is for sure.

An injury to Caicedo is the last thing that Chelsea need right now. They already have plenty of key players out on the sidelines. Levi Colwill could end up missing the entire campaign after suffering an ACL injury in pre-season. On the other hand, there is uncertainty around when Cole Palmer and Liam Delap will be back from their own respective injuries.

For the last several months, often, it has felt like Caicedo has picked up an injury only for him to recover quickly. But at some point, the Ecuadorian needs to be given some rest. There was little of that for Chelsea players this summer due to their deep run in the Club World Cup.
