Chelsea's season continued to fall apart this week. They drew 2-2 at home against Bournemouth, missing the chance to move up to fourth place in the Premier League standings. As a result, Liverpool, who had been struggling for most of the season, are now ahead of the Blues. And in the aftermath, Enzo Maresca has been sacked, although that might have more to do with a deteriorating relationship with the ownership behind the scenes than the results.

Chelsea started the season on a positive note, but their form dipped towards the end of the year. They managed to win just one out of their last seven league games.

After guiding Chelsea to a top-four finish last season, Enzo Maresca led a young squad back to the Champions League and went on to win the Conference League and Club World Cup. Chelsea were considered one of the favourites to win the Premier League at the beginning of the season, but they were often inconsistent as they dropped points in games where they should have dominated and won. They have dropped 15 points from winning positions this season.

Chelsea are still in contention for a Champions League spot, but they need to improve. Despite all of their spending, a hit-or-miss summer hasn't helped much, as Liam Delap and Jamie Gittens have flopped, while Alejandro Garnacho has not consistently impressed. Jorrel Hato does not look ready, while Facundo Buonanotte does not have a long-term future at the club. The Blues may have to add some real quality to the roster.

Chelsea linked with move for €150 million Real Madrid superstar

According to a report from Defensa Central, Chelsea is another possible destination for Vinicius Jr, if he doesn't stay at Real Madrid. The transfer could be completed for €150 million.

The Brazilian has not been at his best under Xabi Alonso. He has failed to score since early October for Real Madrid, and his form is deteriorating. All of this has resulted in the halting of renewal talks.

The Brazilian's current contract expires at the end of June 2027, putting pressure on Los Blancos to make a decision about his future immediately. If Vinicius does not renew his deal by June, Real Madrid are expected to part ways with him. After all, they can't afford to lose him to a free transfer. Chelsea has thus emerged as a new destination option for the winger.

Of course, Chelsea have rarely gone out and signed superstars under this new ownership. Will they change their transfer policy for an out-of-form Vinicius?
