Chelsea are looking to add more to their ranks in this summer transfer window. One area where they could do with more depth is on the flank and forward areas, which is why they are believed to be eyeing versatile players capable of playing in multiple positions. Unfortunately it looks like they are set to miss out on a high-profile one.

Chelsea have been linked with Marcus Rashford on and off for quite a few years now. And those rumours had cropped back up in recent days as well.

Now, we know Rashford's next destination and it is not Stamford Bridge. Instead, he is going to end up joining Barcelona if things go according to plan.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Rashford to Barcelona is 'here we go'. There is a verbal agreement in principle between all parties involved with the La Liga champions planning for medical tests in the next days. It is a loan deal with a buy option, with details being finalised today. Then Man Utd will authorise his travel to Spain.

There is no question about Rashford's talent. But the Englishman has never quite managed to reach his full potential during his time at Manchester United.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa. Incidentally, his best performance for the club came in a game against Chelsea as he came off the bench to provide two assists as they came from behind to win 2-1.

So, it is not hard to understand why Chelsea might have held an interest in Rashford. But he is headed to Barcelona instead. Let's see how things turn out for him in Spain. As for the Blues, they will need to look at other options in this summer window.
