The influence of Manchester City is quite clear on this current Chelsea side. Enzo Maresca used to coach there. Cole Palmer, the Blues' star player right now, came through their youth ranks. The likes of Tosin Adarabioyo, Jamie Gittens, Liam Delap and Romeo Lavia were part of their academy setup, too. And now, the opportunity might have opened up for the Stamford Bridge outfit to add to that.
In the recent past, we have seen Chelsea being linked with quite a few of Manchester City's youngsters. Oscar Bobb is amongst them.
For a while, it had looked like Bobb was set to be the next big thing for Manchester City. But a long-term injury appeared to derail his early momentum and with the club now closing in on the signing of Antoine Semenyo, it appears that the youngster is considering his future.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Bobb could leave Manchester City in January. If the Semenyo deal is completed, he will seriously consider his exit. Several clubs already made approaches for him, including Borussia Dortmund, in recent weeks.
Chelsea-linked player now looking to leave Manchester City
It is uncertain whether Chelsea will make a move for Bobb or not. In the past, they have been linked with him on numerous occasions though, and the Blues' scouting department does not give up on long-term targets easily.
Bobb is a versatile player. He has played most of his football on the right flank, but Chelsea already have the likes of Estevao and Pedro Neto there. Geovany Quenda and Kendry Paez are set to come as well.
So, it is hard to imagine that Chelsea will need Bobb there. He is also capable of playing on the left flank, in the number 10 role and even as a centre-forward. The Blues did try and fail to sign both Xavi Simons and Fermin Lopez in the summer. Perhaps it is that profile that they see in Bobb.
