The striker situation is one that has worried Chelsea fans for a while now and it seems to be getting only worse. Joao Pedro is the only real option that they have up top but even the Brazilian international is not an out-and-out centre-forward, and thrives more in a combination role between a number 9 and a number 10.
On the other hand, it has become pretty clear over the last few weeks that Enzo Maresca does not exactly rate Marc Guiu has someone who can contribute to his team. So much so that he has constantly picked Tyrique George, a natural winger, as a striker ahead of the former FC Barcelona player.
So, those are Chelsea's three options at striker right now. Pedro, George and Guiu. And that will remain the case for at least the next few months, until Liam Delap returns from his injury.
Interestingly, it looks like Chelsea have another elite striker on their radar. And he could be set to leave as a free agent next summer, when his contract is set to run out.
Chelsea looking to sign elite striker for free next summer
As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Dusan Vlahovic wants to leave next June on a free transfer. His goal remains to secure the best possible terms for his next contract. Several English clubs, including Chelsea, are pursuing the Serbian striker, but a concrete offer could soon arrive from Germany with Bayern Munich interested.
Vlahovic is someone who has been linked with Chelsea in the past as well. And after his stint at Juventus has not been the grand success that it was expected to be, it looks like the Serbian wants a change of scenery.
The issue is, Chelsea are not known to hand out big deals under their new ownership. So, that could prevent them from seriously pursuing a move for Vlahovic, who is looking for a big contract.
