Chelsea have been very active in recent times when it comes to signing some of the top talents from around the world. Just look at the players who are yet to arrive at Stamford Bridge. Estevao, Kendry Paez and Geovany Quenda are three names that come to mind immediately. And now, it looks like a Paris Saint-Germain talent has caught their eye as well. This time around, the Blues might not even need to shell out a transfer fee.
PSG could be on the verge of history. After chasing the Champions League title for so long, they have finally made it back to the final. Even more impressively, they have done it with a young core, after saying goodbye to Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in recent years.
One of PSG's brightest rising talents is Axel Tape. The 17-year-old centre-back has already made three appearances for the senior team. But it looks like he does not see a future for himself in the French capital.
As reported by Sports Zone, despite recent attempts, PSG now believe that Tape will not reverse his decision and will leave the club this summer. Chelsea would like to sign the player and then send him on loan to Strasbourg to play a full season in Ligue 1.
Chelsea looking to sign PSG defender for free this summer
Sending players out on loan to Strasbourg seems to be working out quite well for Chelsea. Andrey Santos has emerged as one of the top talents in Ligue 1. On the other hand, goalkeeper Dorde Petrovic won the club's Player of the Season.
So, someone like Tape could definitely do with a loan spell there. Regular first-team football would help him grow, something that he is not expected to receive at PSG, Chelsea or any other top club at this point.
Of course, it remains to be seen if Chelsea are able to sign Tape. They are not the only club interested in signing him. The likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Bournemouth and Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be eyeing the PSG talent, whose contract runs out in the summer.
