Chelsea have quite a few Brazilian players in their ranks right now and the Brazilian league is one which they have heavily scouted in recent years and signed talent from. On some occasions, it has worked out, on others, it has not. For example, it looks like the decision to swoop in and sign Estevao early was a smart. He is already making his mark at Stamford Bridge and for the national team.
But then, there have also been occasions when Chelsea's moves have proven to be mistakes. Deivid Washington and Angelo are two such examples.
Chelsea are clearly not planning to move away from their strategy though. In fact, they are already testing the waters for another highly-rated Brazilian talent, who has caught the eye at the U17 World Cup.
As reported by PH Cruzeirense, Chelsea have already submitted a €10 million offer to sign Felipe Morais of Cruzeiro. The London club are not the only one in the running, as Barcelona have also shown interest.
Chelsea make €10m bid for another Brazilian player
Morais is the type of player you would expect on Chelsea's transfer radar. That being said, there would be some question marks about making a move of this magnitude for him.
Firstly, he has not played senior-level football. At 17, it is not hard to understand why. That being said, we have also seen many take that step in Brazilian football by that age. Secondly, his two goals at the U17 World Cup have come in one-sided wins against Honduras and Indonesia. We are not sure how deeply you should look into those.
Anyways, the belief is that Cruzeiro will look to keep hold of the player at this point in time. The expectation is that someone like Morais could play senior football and increase his transfer value further before making the move to Europe.
