As expected, Chelsea is going through a busy summer transfer window. They have recently acquired Liam Delap from Ipswich Town by activating his £30 million release clause. There are also a few more names which are currently being linked to the Blues, as it looks like they might be looking to do more business before the Club World Cup campaign.
For example, Chelsea made an initial bid of €35 million for Jamie Gittens, but Borussia Dortmund declined. The sides are reportedly still negotiating, and a new offer from the Blues is anticipated.
Hugo Ekitike is another name that Chelsea has been considering for a while, going back to his days at Reims. He has grown into one of the most promising young strikers in Europe, but his transfer fee appears to be quite expensive at the moment, with his present club, Eintracht Frankfurt, looking for €100 million.
Chelsea, however, do not seem to be ready to meet that. Instead, new reports suggest that they are one of several Premier League teams interested in FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa.
Chelsea battle Man Utd and Arsenal to sign Spanish striker
As reported by CaughtOffside, West Ham United, Manchester United, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Arsenal are closely following the situation of Samu. It is claimed that FC Porto want around €70-75m for the striker.
Aghehowa scored 25 goals and assisted 3 times in 42 games across all competitions for FC Porto last season. As a result, he's quickly become one of the most talked-about youngsters in world football.
The biggest regret for the Blues is that they had almost signed Samu last summer. Chelsea and Atletico Madrid reportedly reached an agreement but the deal fell through at the last minute. Since then, his transfer valuation has doubled.
Considering the manner in which that deal collapsed, one has to wonder whether Samu would even want to go to Chelsea. Especially if other clubs present an offer as well.
