Chelsea possess one of the strongest teams in the Premier League this season, courtesy of a solid transfer window from the club that saw the Blues bring in Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens and Jorrel Hato. Additionally, the club have also completed the signings of Estevao and Dario Essugo. Now, they are believed to have shifted their focus to secure the deals for Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have also reinforced their squad, having signed some notable names like Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez. Now the club is looking to part with some of the players to balance its books.

Harvey Elliott is one of the Liverpool players linked with a move away for quite some time now, although nothing has materialised as we speak. There are suggestions that Chelsea could hold the key to that transfer despite not being directly involved in it.

Football Insider report that their chief transfer correspondent, Pete O’Rourke, said while speaking on the Inside Track Podcast:

"A lot will depend on what Leipzig do with Xavi Simons and his potential move to Chelsea.

"If Simons makes that move to Chelsea, then it gives Leipzig money to go out there and spend on Harvey Elliott."

RB Leipzig are one of the clubs interested in signing Elliott. But they might only make the move if Simons heads to Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are also stuck until they sanction the exit of Christopher Nkunku before moving in for Simons. The Dutch international has already agreed personal terms with the Blues but a move has been on standby since then.

Right now, Garnacho is believed to be the more likely of the two signings for Chelsea. Although it was recently reported that Manchester United passed on the chance to sign Tyrique George as part of a swap deal.

With just a week left before the transfer window closes, each of the clubs will need to pick up their pace for negotiation or risk missing out on their targets. As for Chelsea, they can alternatively part with Nicolas Jackson and still bring in Simons if a potential suitor for Nkunku isn’t found in time with clubs like Aston Villa and Newcastle keen on taking the Senegalese international away from Stamford Bridge.
