Chelsea could be offered the chance to sign Ethan Nwaneri from Arsenal.
After failing to become a regular starter, the 19-year-old has spent the second half of the season on loan with Marseille. He has scored two goals in 11 appearances.
Despite Marseille being unlikely to sign him permanently in the summer, the teenager's future at the Emirates remains uncertain.
Ethan Nwaneri's agents make contact with Chelsea over surprise transfer
Interestingly, Chelsea have emerged as a possible destination for the bright youngster, who wasn't always open to leaving North London, but appears to have changed his stance.
According to a report from journalist Ekrem Konour, published on Sports Boom, the winger's agents have made contact with Chelsea as well as Aston Villa to "gauge their interest".
It is unknown how the agent's proposal was received inside Chelsea, but understanding the sporting department's youth transfer model, it's fair to assume a conversation would've followed.
Nwaneri expecting sizeable wage package if he leaves Arsenal
Although Nwaneri will not turn 20 until next March he already boasts an impressive CV. The youngster was part of the England under-21 squad that lifted the 2025 European Championship.
Domestically, his appearance from the Arsenal bench — aged 15 years and 181 days — against Brentford in September 2022 saw him become the Premier League's youngest-ever player; a record later broken by Harvey Elliot.
Three years later, Nwaneri scored his first goal in the Champions League during Arsenal's 2-1 victory over Girona. His strike helped the Gunners to reach the competition's knockout rounds.
Speaking about the teenager at the time, Mikel Arteta, as quoted by Reuters, said: "That's what we love about him, he's willing to take the initiative to make things happen.
"He's very aggressive when he's got the ball and so confident, because before that he had another action, a very similar one, he made the right choice, he went for it. He has the capacity to finish from every angle basically and it was a very important goal.
He added: "It's very natural for him, you can see the way he takes the touches, how he beats people and then the technique he's got, he's so precise in his finishing, put him a lot of times in that situation and the outcome will be good."
The Englishman's current spell with Marseille has only reaffirmed his potential, and, as a result, has peaked the interest of Borussia Dortmund, a club known for turning young stars into superstars.
The 19-year-old is believed to be commanding a salary of up to £4.3 million-per year — around £90,000-per week — a sizeable pay upgrade on his current £40,000-a-week earnings.
