The majority of the talk around Chelsea in recent weeks has been about their injury problems, discipline issues or players they could sign in the upcoming transfer windows. But at the same time, it is important to recognise what the Blues already have. They must keep ahold of those who are contributing positively to Enzo Maresca's side.

Chelsea have made a lot of transfer mistakes under the new ownership. But spending north of £100 million to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion, ahead of Liverpool, was not one of them.

Caicedo might have had a slow start to life at Chelsea but he has developed into one of the Premier League's best midfielders since then, if not the very best. And the Blues cannot afford to see him leave anytime soon.

That is why the fans must be worried about some of the rumours surrounding a potential exit in the near future. There is a positive update on Caicedo though, and the potential of a contract extension with Chelsea.

As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Chelsea have entered discussions to hand Caicedo a more lucrative contract. The Ecuadorian international midfielder has been the subject of interest from Real Madrid.

It is very easy to see why Caicedo might catch the eye of the best teams in the world. So, Chelsea must do everything they can to make sure that he remains at Stamford Bridge. Handing him a new, lucrative contract might be one of those things.

Caicedo has certainly earned himself a new deal with his performances. He has truly been phenomenal, and is arguably Chelsea's most important player, although Cole Palmer might have a thing or two to say about that.

Caicedo is not the only Chelsea player to be linked with Real Madrid in recent times. Enzo Fernandez falls under that category as well.
