With every passing day, Chelsea's summer transfer business is facing more and more criticism. What had looked like a decent window at one point is now being viewed very differently following the Blues' poor start to the campaign. Perhaps it is important to step back and give the fresh arrivals some more time to adjust. But from what we have seen so far, things are not looking great.
Joao Pedro is the only one who has really established himself as a starter. Other than that, everybody else has struggled to impress or in the case of Liam Delap, is already out injured. There is already some talk about Jorrel Hato being sent out on loan in January as well.
Amid all this, it looks like another of Chelsea's players is closing in on a permanent exit. Nicolas Jackson is already out on loan at Bayern Munich. There is an obligation to buy included in the deal, but it becomes active only if certain conditions are met, which are unlikely as things stand.
But as reported by BILD (via Metro), Bayern Munich have negotiated a five-year deal with Jackson’s camp and ‘everything has already been contractually agreed’ on the player's side. But the Bundesliga giants are yet to seriously broach the subject with Chelsea and would likely try to renegotiate to bring down the transfer price next summer.
Chelsea player agrees five-year deal with European giants
A loan-plus-permanent deal worth a total of around €80 million was agreed with Bayern Munich this summer. Of course, as we have already mentioned, there are only certain conditions under which the obligation will become activated and they are hard to meet.
It is believed that Jackson will need to make a certain number of starts that he is very unlikely to, with Harry Kane ahead of him in the pecking order. So, if a permanent move is going to take place, it is more than likely that Bayern Munich will try to bring down that pre-agreed fee, and probably by a significant margin, if the Senegalese international remains a backup option at the Allianz Arena.
It is believed that there is little chance Jackson will ever play for Chelsea again. So, one can only hope that they are able to find the best solution available and soon.
