Quite a few Chelsea players could be on their way out of Stamford Bridge this summer. Some are looking for playing time, having failed to break into Enzo Maresca's plans. On the other hand, there are also those who might end up on the exit list because the Blues need to balance the books. Unfortunately, that has been the case a few times in recent years.
In the case of Djordje Petrovic, it might be a combination of both. He was brilliant away on loan at Strasbourg last season, winning the French club;s Player of the Year in the process.
One would imagine that that would have been enough to earn him a spot at Chelsea, especially with both Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen struggling to establish themselves as the first choice between the posts. But now, it looks like Petrovic is the one heading for the permanent exit.
As reported by TBR Football, Bournemouth have agreed personal terms with Petrovic. The Cherries are now close to finalising an agreement with Chelsea, who are asking for a £25 million transfer fee to part with the Serbian goalkeeper.
Chelsea player agrees personal terms to leave as exit close
An exit does not seem to be far away for Petrovic. At this point in his career, he needs to be a starter. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be a guarantee at Chelsea.
Bournemouth have proven themselves to be one of the best teams in the league when it comes to identifying talent. Just look at the exits this summer. Do not be surprised if Petrovic earns himself a move to a top European club by impressing with the Cherries.
As for Chelsea, the goalkeeping situation remains up in the air. Sanchez remains number one for now, but for how much longer? They had tried to sign Mike Maignan from AC Milan before the Club World Cup.
