Chelsea are vying to win the Club World Cup in the United States but behind the scenes, the club are hard at work, trying to improve the squad. The Blues have already added Liam Delap and Joao Pedro while the arrival of Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund is only believed to be a matter of time. On the other hand, there could be some exits to come as well.

There is a genuine possibility that Chelsea will try to sign a goalkeeper this summer. They tried to bring in Mike Maignan from AC Milan before the Club World Cup but failed to get a deal done. Will they eye other goalies or try again for the Frenchman?

At the same time, it looks like Djordje Petrovic is on his way out of Stamford Bridge. He will remain in the Premier League though.

As reported by Sacha Tavolieri, Sunderland are close to finalising the signing of Petrovic on a five-year deal. The transfer fee is around €25 million.

Many Chelsea fans believe that Petrovic is the best goalkeeper that they have on their books right now. And he has his excellent campaign on loan at Strasbourg to back up that claim, as he was named their Player of the Season.

That was not enough to convince Chelsea to hand him the first-team gloves though. As a result, Petrovic is on his way out, ready to be the starting goalkeeper.

It remains to be seen how Petrovic does at Sunderland. Newly promoted teams have had a tough time staying up in the Premier League in recent years. Will they be able to break the mould? On the other hand, the fans will be hoping that Chelsea go out and sign another goalkeeper, as Robert Sanchez has clearly not convinced.
