Chelsea failed to fulfil a number of their objectives in the summer transfer window. On one hand, they missed out on the signatures of Xavi Simons, who decided to join Tottenham Hotspur, and Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez. On the other hand, the Blues also failed to part with players who are not in Enzo Maresca’s plans for the future. Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi are two prime examples who are now spending time away from the first-team squad.

Nevertheless, aside from those two, there are also some players who have found a place in Maresca’s plans but are still looking for a way out. Tyrique George certainly falls into that category.

He was hoping to leave during the summer transfer window, but the move did not materialise. He has gotten consistent chances lately. But despite that, it looks like a January exit is likely.

According to Sky Sports chief correspondent Kaveh Solhekol, George is likely to leave Chelsea in January. Multiple Champions League and Europa League clubs were interested in signing him in the summer, and he came very close to joining Fulham on Deadline Day.

Tyrique George could leave Chelsea in the winter transfer window

George came through Chelsea’s youth academy and was promoted to the first-team in December last year. He was handed a number of opportunities, especially during the last campaign, when the Blues lacked natural left-wingers.

This season as well, George has made five appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing an assist. Chelsea have already brought in two new players for the left flank in the form of Jamie Gittens and Alejandro Garnacho, but the Cobham graduate has gotten playing time centrally.

That being said, George’s playing time is expected to take a major hit once the new arrivals settle in. A move away will likely be explored in January. Chelsea fans would have loved to see the 19-year-old succeed at the club, but all signs point to him leaving soon.
