The English transfer window might be closed but there are leagues where signings can still be made. As a result, there are still some players at Chelsea who could head for the exit door if the right opportunity presents itself over the coming days. And judging by the comments of one, it seems he is keen on a move to take place if possible.
All things considered, Chelsea did a fantastic job this summer of parting ways with players who were no longer in their plans. The likes of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Djordje Petrovic, Joao Felix, Christopher Nkunku, Renato Veiga, Ben Chilwell and several others headed for the exit door. But then, there were some moves the Blues could not engineer.
One of them was for Axel Disasi. Signed from AS Monaco for €45 million, the French international has failed to establish himself as a key player for Chelsea since Enzo Maresca's appointment as manager. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa but they did not make a permanent move for him this summer.
A return to AS Monaco had seemed on the cards but did not happen. But Disasi has hinted that a summer exit cannot be ruled out just yet.
Chelsea player hints he could still leave this summer
As reported by The Chelsea Chronicle, Disasi said:
"In the period between the approaches from Bournemouth and West Ham, Monaco arrived and that hit me emotionally. I had three incredible years at Monaco. When they came in, all the memories came back. Monaco is home.
“I hoped that Chelsea would find a solution to allow me to leave on loan. I pushed until the last minute to go to Monaco.
“Currently, my situation is that I’m continuing to train. By next week, I’ll know for sure what my future holds."
There have been reports that there is interest in Disasi from the Saudi Pro League. Turkey might be a potential destination for him as well.
For now, he is a Chelsea player though. And if a move does not end up happening, is there a chance that he could be integrated back into Maresca's squad? Who do not know yet. But hopefully, whatever happens will be for the best of the club as well as the player.
