Chelsea have already added to their forward ranks this summer, bringing in Liam Delap from Ipswich Town after meeting his £30 million release clause. The Englishman has already made his debut for the Blues, coming off the bench in their Club World Cup winner against LAFC and providing the assist for Enzo Fernandez's goal.

It was a positive start for Delap in a Chelsea jersey. Hopefully, he can build on that. Their other striker, Nicolas Jackson, also provided an assist on the day against LAFC. Yet, it looks like the Blues are hoping to sign another centre-forward this summer.

As reported UOL (via The Chelsea Chronicle), the Blues are preparing an offer to sign Pedro. On the other hand, Newcastle United are also readying one for the Brazilian striker.

Chelsea were linked with Pedro earlier in the summer. Back then, the rumours were played down. But now, they have cropped up again and there seems to be substance behind them.

Chelsea are no strangers to signing players from Brighton & Hove Albion. Marc Cucurella and Moises Caicedo have been two of their best players lately. And Robert Sanchez, for good or for bad, remains the starting goalkeeper for now.

Could Pedro prove to be Chelsea's next signing from Brighton & Hove Albion? The possibility cannot be ruled out.

Since joining the Seagulls, Pedro has had his ups and downs. He scored 20 goals in 40 appearances for them in the 23/24 campaign and followed that up with 10 in 30 last season.

Is he an upgrade on the likes of Delap and Jackson? That is not for certain. And if Chelsea do want to sign another striker this summer, it should be a proven goalscorer like Victor Osimhen or Viktor Gyokeres, rather than another project signing that might or might not work out. The club cannot remain stuck in a never-ending cycle of building for the future. At some point, they need to start delivering in the present.
