As the summer transfer window re-opened this Monday, Chelsea are eager to bolster their ranks with a promising left winger before the start of the Premier League campaign. Noni Madueke, Pedro Neto and Tyrique George will be the only options in the wings for Blues manager Enzo Maresca during the ongoing Club World Cup as Jadon Sancho returned to Manchester United following the end of his loan stint at Stamford Bridge, as the club paid a £5m fine to opt out of a permanent deal.

With Mykhailo Mudryk’s Chelsea future still under a shadow of doubt, the club has shown interest in Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho. They have also been linked with Antonio Nusa, but no official bid has been made as of now.

The player on top of Chelsea's wishlist is Borussia Dortmund's Jamie Gittens. The Blues made two bids for the 20-year-old during the last transfer window but failed to reach an agreement.

Despite the failed attempts, the Conference League winners remain the favourites to sign the English winger. But there have been rumours of Arsenal wanting to overtake them in the race to sign Gittens.

Fabrizio Romano Drops Major Update on Chelsea's Quest to Sign Gittens

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Gittens is not opening doors to other clubs as he maintains the agreement on a seven-year deal with Chelsea. Club-to-club discussions remain ongoing.

Arsenal are also reportedly interested in signing Gittens but the player's sheer resilience to play at the Bridge next season makes Chelsea the favourites at the moment. It remains to be seen if the Blues are able to agree a deal with Borussia Dortmund.

The stumbling blocks in agreeing on a deal have come as a surprise, to be honest. Gittens had actually lost his place in Borussia Dortmund's starting XI towards the end of last season.
