It appears that Chelsea are ready to make a transfer move for the €60 million centre-back this summer but on one condition.

The centre-back situation is one that Chelsea fans are worried about going into the 25/26 campaign. Levi Colwill, the club's best central defender, picked up an ACL injury during pre-season training and could be out for the entirety of the season, leaving Enzo Maresca in a tough spot. The Italian manager's comments have suggested that he would prefer someone to be brought in although at the moment, it appears that the Blues are looking for a solution internally.

Trevoh Chalobah also picked up a knock in the pre-season game against AC Milan. It remains to be seen whether he will be fit to start against Crystal Palace in the season opener.

Tosin Adarabioyo looks almost certain to start. And there have been suggestions that Wesley Fofana could be fit in time but it would be risky to put him in the starting XI, as he did not even feature in pre-season.

Benoit Badiashile is still out injured. Renato Veiga could have been an excellent option but looks headed for the exit door. Axel Disasi is expected to leave as well. So, do not be surprised if Josh Acheampong starts against Crystal Palace. Will this defence be able to compete with the top teams though? Or should Chelsea go out and sign another centre-back?

As reported by Bolavip, Chelsea would pay more than €60 million for Piero Hincapie and are expected to make a final push in the coming weeks to sign him. But this will depend on the team's defensive performance at the start of the Premier League season.

Hincapie is considered one of the most talented centre-backs in world football right now. He plays for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and with Moises Caicedo and Kendry Paez for the Ecuador national team.

This is not the first time Chelsea have been linked with. But even if they want him, would Bayer Leverkusen be open to the idea of an exit, considering they have already said goodbye to Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong this summer?
