Chelsea are stepping into the next season with major changes to their forward lineup. In the previous campaign, Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku were the club’s main options up top, and it is fair to say that neither player impressed enough with their performances. As a result, the Blues have brought in two new faces in the form of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro to strengthen their frontline.

However, this has cast uncertainty over the futures of the existing strikers. Chelsea have been trying to part with Nkunku since the start of the transfer window, so his departure would not come as a surprise.

Jackson’s future, on the other hand, had remained unclear. The Senegalese international, who was the primary striker last season, is expected to see a significant drop in playing time, which could push him to find a new club. It has been reported by multiple outlets that he is keen on an exit.

Anyway, if Jackson does end up leaving Chelsea, what will the next step for the club be? Will they bring in someone new? Recent reports have provided an answer.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are unlikely to replace Jackson with someone new if the 24-year-old striker moves this month. The Blues believe they already have ample in-house cover.

Chelsea will be left with their two new arrivals as striker options if they opt not to bring in someone else. Their only other forward, apart from the four names mentioned, is David Datro Fofana, who is also linked with a move away.

Although Delap and Pedro are undoubtedly talented strikers, as evident from their performances in the Club World Cup and pre-season, Chelsea would be taking a risk by going into the season without proper backup in their ranks. A single injury could come back to haunt them.

All things considered, Jackson is yet to find a new club, and Chelsea won’t part ways with him unless a significant offer comes in. We still have more than two weeks remaining in the transfer window, so let’s wait and see how things pan out.
