Chelsea struggled with a lack of consistent goal contributions from their forwards last season. The club’s main striker, Nicolas Jackson, managed only 13 goals across all competitions, while Christopher Nkunku scored just two more than the Senegalese international, and most of them came in the Conference League or the League Cup.
Due to this underwhelming output, the Blues have already brought in reinforcements for the striker role in the form of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. Both found the back of the net in the Club World Cup, with the Brazilian even scoring in the final against PSG.
Meanwhile, to avoid overcrowding their squad, Chelsea are considering parting with some of their forwards. The departures of Nkunku and possibly Jackson are already anticipated. Now, a new name has emerged that could follow the same path as well.
According to the Times (via Molineux News), there has been interest from Wolves in David Datro Fofana. The Ivorian has been given the green light to a Stamford Bridge exit this summer.
Wolves interested in Chelsea forward David Datro Fofana
The Ivory Coast international joined the Blues in 2021 from Molde FK and has since been loaned out to multiple clubs. Last season, he appeared in just nine matches while scoring only two goals for Turkish side Goztepe, where he was sent on loan.
Interestingly, he has appeared in four matches for Chelsea but has failed to get on the scoresheet even once. At 22 years of age, it may be time for him to move on, and the Blues might feel the same way.
Apart from Wolves, clubs from Italy and France are also keeping an eye on the player. So all indications point to the fact that the player’s future lies elsewhere. As for where he ends up, that remains to be seen.
