Chelsea are finishing off some final pieces of business as we are just a week away from the start of the new Premier League season. The Blues have successfully strengthened the team by bringing in a number of reinforcements, starting with Liam Delap, who was signed before the Club World Cup. Then came Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens, followed by Jorrel Hato. Additionally, Estevao, who was signed in 2024, has also officially joined the club.

Nevertheless, Chelsea are now focused on bringing Xavi Simons to Stamford Bridge. The versatile RB Leipzig player, who can operate in multiple areas across the pitch, is reportedly keen to move to the Premier League club as well. Meanwhile, new reports have emerged revealing further updates regarding this transfer.

Signing Simons would make sense. Joao Felix has already left this summer to join Al-Nassr and Christopher Nkunku is expected to head for the exit door as well. So, they need some depth in that area of the pitch.

According to Sky Sports' Kaveh Solhekol, Chelsea are hoping to agree a deal to sign Simons for less than £50m. They value the Dutch international at between €50m and €55m. The Blues have not made a bid for the RB Leipzig ace yet.

Chelsea are looking to bring RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons in this summer

Simons joined Leipzig in January for a fee of €50 million, plus another €30 million in potential add-ons. But the Dutchman seems keen to leave just months later after the Bundesliga side failed to make it to the Champions League.

Last campaign, the Dutch international appeared in 33 matches and was directly involved in 19 goals, scoring 11 times and providing 8 assists. So, with the form Simons is in, he will likely be a great addition to Enzo Maresca’s squad.

All things considered, it seems that Chelsea are confident about getting this deal over the finish line. However in modern football nothing can be said for certain until and unless the ink is dry on the paper. So let’s just wait and watch for that to happen.
