Chelsea have firmly shut down speculation about Mykhailo Mudryk's potential exit during the January transfer window as per Football Transfers. The 23-year-old Ukrainian winger, who joined the Blues for £89 million last year, will remain at Stamford Bridge despite his recent absence from the matchday squad against Liverpool.

Club stands by young talent

Chelsea's decision to retain Mudryk stems from their belief in his long-term potential. The club sees little logic in offloading a player of his youth and price tag. With a contract running until 2031, Mudryk is viewed as a significant investment for the future.

Although Mudryk's performance hasn't met initial expectations, with only seven goals in 66 appearances, Chelsea remains optimistic. The club attributes his current struggles to the challenges of adapting to English football, rather than questioning his abilities.

Fierce competition for starting spots

Mudryk's path to regular first-team action has been complicated by strong competition. Summer signing Jadon Sancho has become the preferred choice on the left wing. Other players like Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, and Christopher Nkunku have also moved ahead of Mudryk for bench positions.

As a result, Mudryk's playing time has been limited, with most of his appearances coming in cup competitions. However, he's shown glimpses of his talent, providing an assist in each of his last two matches across all competitions.

Looking ahead

Despite Mudryk's notable absence from the recent Premier League clash with Liverpool, Chelsea expects him to feature in upcoming fixtures. The Conference League match against Panathinaikos offers Mudryk an opportunity to impress manager Enzo Maresca and push for more regular inclusion in the squad.

While Maresca has openly shown frustration with Mudryk at times this season, it hasn't altered the club's stance on the young winger's future. Chelsea's decision to keep Mudryk indicates their continued belief in his potential to make a significant impact at Stamford Bridge, despite his current challenges.
