Chelsea might allow Christopher Nkunku to leave, despite it not being their preference, with both Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich eyeing his transfer.
Chelsea find themselves in a position where they have incredible squad depth. This is why, despite having their share of injuries this season, Chelsea have never looked unfavourable in matches this campaign.
Indeed, in Enzo Maresca's first season in charge of Chelsea, the Italian coach has seen Chelsea rise to fourth in the Premier League table. This is an improvement from their sixth place finish last term.
That said, Chelsea are said to be open to selling a player who Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich wish to sign.
Chelsea may sell £52m striker as Atletico Madrid & Bayern Munich eye transfer
According to a report from TBR Football, Chelsea will not stand in the way of Christopher Nkunku, should he wish to pursue a move in the January transfer window. Indeed, both Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich have shown an interest in signing him.
The report does reinstate that Chelsea have not transfer listed Christopher Nkunku. However, they are not opposed to selling him, if it makes financial sense to do so. Therefore, it will depend on the nature of the bids which come in.
Analysing Nkunku does have to come through the unfortunate lens of "what if?". After all, Nkunku has proven that he can be an incredible striker but through no fault of his own, his time at Stamford Bridge has been tainted by injuries. So he hasn't quite hit the heights he perhaps could've.
Nevertheless, there are two European super-clubs who are interested in taking a punt on the Chelsea striker. It should come as no surprise, given his versatility and potential to become an incredible player if he goes through a consistent period with full fitness.
We will see what happens between now and the end of the January transfer window. No bids have come in for Nkunku so at this point in time, it is merely speculation.
