Chelsea Football Club are said to have finally settled on their main transfer target with respect to strikers. The former favourite to join the Blues seems to be somewhat of a second choice now. The west Londoners have gone in a different direction than initially imagined. But why have CFC's recruitment bosses reportedly changed their collective minds? And is the supposed wanted man the best footballer for the job? And, lastly of all, will Nicolas Jackson's starting place be up for grabs when a new man eventually arrives?

In addition to looking at that story and offering our opinions, we also speak on another topic. This time focus switches to the manager. Enzo Maresca is widely considered to have made a good start at Stamford Bridge. He's clearly doing a good job in general. A former Premier League head coach has unquestionably backed that view. So what did the boss, who's been everywhere, say about the Italian exactly? And do we agree?

Enzo Maresca receives praise for work at Chelsea so far

Alan Pardew has managed many clubs: Reading, West Ham United, Charlton Athletic, Newcastle United, Southampton, Crystal Palace, West Bromwich Albion, Den Haag, Sofia and Aris. Although he wasn't always totally successful with those teams, he was certainly passionate.

This ridiculous level of experience and expertise, partly at the apex of English football, leaves the 63-year-old rather uniquely positioned to offer insight into the game and its protagonists. And Pardew has done just that regarding Maresca.

The former Manchester City coach was lauded for his confidence and composure whilst on the sidelines in a demanding job. The application of many 'tools' at Maresca's disposal was also commended. The 'relaxed' gaffer has Chels 'in good shape', says Pardew.

Have the Blues chosen a centre forward they want at last?

Rory Delap's son Liam is currently making his name in this season's competitive EPL competition. Delap the younger plays for Ipswich Town. While his once semi-famous father was notable when at Stoke City. Rory's throw-in was a work of art and a staple of a then-throwback side.

Liam has his dad's enthusiasm; the forward does not respect his rich and celebrated opponents. And that aspect of the striker's play is so admirable in today's diluted game. Evidently, an expensive Alexander Isak approach may not transpire after all, leaving a gap:

"Chelsea consider signing Premier League icon’s son instead of Arsenal target"

Delap's modus operandi is akin to the emergence of one-time Leeds United attacker Alan Smith, if you can remember back that far. That means the Tractor Boy can play! But leading Chelsea's line is a different proposal altogether. The 21-year-old might deputise for Jackson, I suspect.

"Chelsea are plotting a move for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap after cooling their interest in Newcastle United star and Arsenal target Alexander Isak"
