Chelsea should consider forcing Real Madrid into a compromise this summer amid the Spanish club's bid to land Enzo Fernandez. Los Blancos do not seem to be giving up on Chelsea's prized midfielder, who is going to cost £120million or more this summer.

Fernandez has been a vital cog in the Chelsea midfielder over recent years, and he is attractive to the world's best clubs, being one of the modern hybrid defensive midfielder who is also able to get forward.

Real Madrid seem to be hell-bent on landing the Argentine before the summer is out, and it could leave Chelsea with a big hole to fill, hence they would prefer not to sanction a sale.

Chelsea should force Real Madrid into a compromise of their own

Chelsea may have to compromise this summer in selling Fernandez, who seems to want an exit, having seen the Blues miss out on European football for next season. As is the case for many players, it's an attractive prospect when Real Madrid come calling, and Chelsea may ultimately be forced to sell, albeit on their terms.

But the Blues need to be careful, given the prices of holding and hybrid midfielders, which has soared due to players like Rodri, Vitinha, Declan Rice and others reminding everyone how important such players are in recent years.

Tottenham recently saw a £75million offer rejected for Sandro Tonali, while they and Manchester United are said to be battling it out for Mateus Fernandes, with West Ham asking for at least £80million this summer.

Neither of those players are as good as Fernandez, so it's clear the Argentine will cost just as much to replace this summer. That puts Chelsea in a tricky position, and so they should consider asking Real Madrid to send a midfielder they do not want to lose in return.

Los Blancos are hoping to keep hold of energetic midfielder Eduardo Camavinga this summer, with a recent Marca report making it clear Real Madrid will only sell if they are presented with an irresistible offer.

Camavinga is a proven commodity who can play in the holding and out-and-out midfield roles, while he can also fill in at full-back in emergencies.

The Frenchman would be a natural replacement for Fernandez, and at 23 years of age, he fits Chelsea's mould of being a player with big potential still to reach.

Real Madrid do not want to sell Camavinga, but nor do Chelsea want to give up Fernandez. There is a compromise to be found there where both clubs end up with a top new midfielder.
