Chelsea have signed plenty of new players this summer. Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, and Jorrel Hato have been brought in while Estevao and Dario Essugo have also arrived, although deals for them where agreed before this transfer window. However, the Blues are not done yet because there are more players on their radar.

The Blues are currently believed to be negotiating two deals. One to bring in Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig and the other to sign Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.

Chelsea have been negotiating a deal for the Netherlands international for a while now and fans have been left frustrated by how slowly it has all moved. Several factors have delayed talks, one of which being the Blues’ need to raise funds through departures before making their move. But there has been a recent development on this.

According to The Guardian, Chelsea are in talks with RB Leipzig over a potential swap deal for Simons that could result in Christopher Nkunku heading in the opposite direction. The Bundesliga club would like to re-sign their former player to replace Benjamin Sesko, who has joined Manchester City.

Nkunku is expected to depart Chelsea this summer. Simons is also said to be keen on a move to Stamford Bridge. So, it all makes sense on paper.

Nkunku signed a six-year contract with Chelsea after joining for £52m, but he has struggled to establish himself in West London. His stint at Stamford Bridge has been marred by injuries and has a modest tally of six Premier League goals, which could now lead to his exit.

But that's not the case in Leipzig, where he is still held in high regard. Nkunku joined the club in 2019 and made 172 appearances, scoring 70 goals and assisting 56 times. He also won the DFB-Pokal twice for them.

It had been anticipated that Simons would command a £60m fee. On the other hand, Nkunku has a £40m transfer valuation. So, talent worth a combined £100m could be swapping places this summer. Keep an eye out.
