Chelsea Football Club are supposedly hoping to arrange a transfer for an unsettled Manchester City star. The high profile international was also once named Premier League Player of Season for a marvellous campaign. Under Pep Guardiola, the footballer has made himself into one of the foremost commodities in his chosen position of excellence. So, will Chels' be able to prise away this talented man from the four-time consecutive English top-flight champions? Why do the Blues think they can secure his signature? Would the athlete fit in at Stamford Bridge? And does he suit Enzo Maresca's style of play?
Chelsea at Panathinaikos in Europa Conference League Group Stage
At the time of writing, the CFC squad is preparing for a match in Greece which is roughly three hours from kick-off. The Blues should bypass Panathinaikos fairly easily but as we all know - nothing is preordained in football.
You can read two predicted lineup articles from two separate The Pride of London writers, by clicking here and here. Of course, Cole Palmer won't feature: the England man was omitted from the UECL roster in order to protect his fitness and well-being.
Chelsea shouldn't require the one-time Manchester City standout starlet to progress. Though that stance may also end up an imprudent move: the west London side desperately need to continue entering and even win a European trophy for reasons that are simply obvious and myriad at this point.
Will Blues recruitment chiefs be able to convince Ruben Dias to join the Fulham Road outfit?
Imagine another high profile, quality, winner joining Chelsea from Man City. Adding one or two of their elites, as well as a couple at the standard of Liverpool or Arsenal wouldn't hurt either.
Essentially Enzo Maresca's starting team, and roster at large, is only a few eminent acquisitions from being a real force to be reckoned with. A great goalkeeper, a truly forceful centre back, possibly a striker, with some world-class backups for security and strength.
But back to Dias who can be absolutely colossal in defence, rumours suggest some Citizens are unhappy at the Etihad at present. Though this is merely conjecture at the moment - clubs such as Chels shall pounce for their targets if there's even a hint of truth to speculation.
Dias would suit Maresca's system. I mean, the Portuguese would be ideal in any back line to be fair! The story is detailed below:
