After seeing one manager after another depart the club, one can only wonder if the Chelsea ownership will now open up to changing their ways and tweaking their transfer model to suit the needs of a winning project. For years now, they have overlooked the need for experience and proven quality in favour of signing high-potential youngsters, most of whom have failed to meet expectations.

As a result, Chelsea have never moved forward under this ownership. They had finished third in the Premier League, reached the finals of both the FA Cup and League Cup, as well as the quarter-finals of the Champions League in the 21/22 season under Thomas Tuchel, before this ownership took over. They have not better in any of those competitions since then despite spending north of a billion pounds on player acquisition.

So, it would not be wrong to say that Chelsea's model has failed miserably. There have been promises of European dominance for the last four years, but nothing has come to fruition so far. Unsurprisingly, the patience of the supporters is running thin.

Amid all this, it is positive to see the club being linked with a well-established name. Sandro Tonali of Newcastle United has been suggested as a transfer target for the Blues in the media recently.

3 Added Minutes have suggested that Chelsea should offer Newcastle United a player in return, plus a hefty chunk of cash, as part of a swap deal to try and convince them. With that in mind, Raheem Sterling would be an ideal candidate to head in the opposite direction.

It is worth mentioning that Sterling has been linked with a potential move to Newcastle United recently as well. He has been left out of the first-team picture this season and clearly does not have a future at the club.

Tonali could be an excellent addition to what is already a very talented Chelsea midfield. Of course, it remains to be seen how accurate the rumours linking the club with the Newcastle United midfielder are. Only time shall tell.

On the other hand, would Newcastle United actually want to take on Sterling at this point in his career? One of the best in the world in his position, while at Manchester City, he has lost his way in recent years. His Chelsea numbers have not flattered, and he was even worse while on loan at Arsenal last season.
