When Liam Delap got injured, it had looked like Chelsea were going to keep Nicolas Jackson at the club. Even though a loan deal had been agreed with Bayern Munich, the Senegalese international was called back to London by the Blues. But ultimately, the move did go through even though the terms were renegotiated.

This time around, Bayern Munich were ready to include an obligation to buy with the loan deal. All things considered, it was an €80 million-plus move for Jackson.

Perhaps Chelsea felt that it was too good an offer to turn down. As a result, they recalled Marc Guiu from Sunderland. And while some had hoped that the club would make a last-minute addition at striker, that did not happen.

As it turns out, the Blues did try. As reported by Football Talk, according to Simon Phillips, Chelsea attempted to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Jorgen Strand Larsen at the last hour. The club also held talks with his agent, but it was quickly concluded that a deal would not be possible.

It is unclear what kind of transfer fee it would have taken for Wolves to consider parting ways with Larsen this summer. But it is believed that offers as high as £55 million had been turned down.

Larsen enjoyed an excellent 24/25 season. He scored 14 goals and provided 4 assists in the Premier League. Understandably, he was a man in demand this summer, but ultimately, he remained at Wolves.

As for Chelsea, Joao Pedro is their first-choice striker. Behind him, Guiu is the cover option, at least for the next six weeks, although some worrying reports have suggested that Delap's injury is worse than first thought and he could be out of action for even longer than that.
