It looks like Chelsea have made a U-turn regarding their plans for the £50 million winger's exit this summer.

With a couple of weeks left in the summer transfer window, it looks like Chelsea still have a lot of work left to do. They still have not gotten deals for Alejandro Garnacho and Xavi Simons over the line. And if the dull opening day display against Crystal Palace was anything to go by, those additions are most certainly needed. Enzo Maresca sounds keen on bringing in another centre-back as well although it remains to be seen if the club will back him.

Before any further additions are made, Chelsea will need to sanction some exits first. But at the moment, it feels like they are struggling to see their transfer valuations met for a number of these players.

A name that falls under that category is Raheem Sterling. The England international has struggled since joining Chelsea from Manchester City and was not able to rediscover his form while on loan at Arsenal last season either. Initially this summer, it was believed that the Blues were trying to engineer a permanent exit for him.

Now, as reported by The Telegraph, Chelsea are prepared to consider loan proposals for Sterling. The Blues are hoping to offload several players to turn a profit for the summer.

Sterling was signed in the summer of 2022, from Manchester City for a transfer package believed to be worth up to £50 million. He seemed to start brightly as well but has never found his best form following the exit of Thomas Tuchel, who was believed to be instrumental behind his move to Stamford Bridge.

If Sterling's loan spell at Arsenal had worked out, there possibly would have been a lot more interest in his signature this summer. But at the moment, things seem to be quiet regarding his exit even with just a couple of weeks left in the window.

Fulham have been linked with Sterling in recent weeks. It remains to be seen if Chelsea's London neighbours to make an offer at some point, whether it be a loan or a permanent one.
